Your Personal Town Guide
North Yorkshire
Scarborough is known as the “Queen of the Yorkshire Coast” as it became a fashionable place to visit to take the spa waters in the 18th century. This led to the gentrification of the town. That air still persists today around the Spa complex where in the summer you can sit and listen to an orchestra play. The castle headland dominates the town and the harbour in the South Bay. Clustered underneath is the old town. The North Bay is quieter, with many visitors heading to Peasholm Park and the Sea Life Centre.
