Ripon
North Yorkshire
Ripon is one of the smallest cities in Britain; it is one on account of having a Cathedral that has been at the centre for church life since it was founded in 672. Although the city life has revolved around the Cathderal there are many other aspects: the canal basin, the market square, the formal Spa Gardens and three unusual museums: all to do with Law and Order. A little further a field is the racecourse, the moated manor house of Markenfield Hall and one of the largest abbey’s in Britain: Fountain’s.
