Richmond
North Yorkshire
Richmond has everything one imagines an English town should have: a castle, a large market square surrounded by shops, a river, streets of picturesque cottages and traditions going back 100s of years. The town can add to this a Georgian theatre, a railway station that has been turned into a café and cinema and two unusual buildings: the Friary and Culloden towers. An abbey too? Yes, Easby abbey is just a mile from the town centre along a riverside walk.
