Pickering
North Yorkshire
Ideally situated to discover the North Yorkshire Moors, the Wolds and the coast, Pickering is very much at a crossroads. Since 1836 it has been connected by a railway to Whitby along which steam trains still run. At the top of High Street stands the parish church that has rare medieval murals high on the nave walls. A five-minute walk away is the castle built here in the 12th century.
