Your Personal Town Guide
North Yorkshire
Malton is the market town, however a mile away is Old Malton with its quaint cottages surrounding a Priory and across the river Derwent and railway line is Norton. Its history goes back to Roman times where you can still see the earthern banks of the fort. At the town centre is a large market square in which stands a French-style Town Hall and the Parish Church. A row of old butcher’s shops – The Shambles - connects it to the auction mart where livestock auctions are still held weekly.
