Harrogate
North Yorkshire
Harrogate was built for visitors – in the 18th century for those who came to cure themselves taking the Spa waters and later for water treatments. To accommodate these rich visitors hotels and elegant houses were built and the 200 acre Stray, a park that stretches right into Harrogate was developed for walks. With Spa treatments out of vogue Conference, Exhibition and Showground facilities were built attracting a whole new set of visitors. Others come to see the floral displays, the Spring and Summer flower shows and the gardens at Harlow Carr.
