Bolton Abbey is the estate of the Duke of Devonshire and stretches along the river Wharfe from Bolton Bridge to Burnsall including the Priory church; Barden Tower; The Strid – where the waters of the Wharfe are channelled through a rock chasm. From the wooded riverside to the purple heather clad moorland in the summer, there are miles of walks and rides maintained by the Estate workers.
